Privacy policy
What we collect, what we don't, and who else is involved.

Ice & Cedar is published by Type 5 Marketing LLC. This policy describes what happens to data when you use this site. It is written to be read.
What we collect directly
Almost nothing. There are no accounts on this site, no login, no newsletter, and no shopping cart. We do not sell anything ourselves.
The one place you can hand us data is the contact form. If you use it, the name, email, topic and message you type are sent to our inbox by email so we can reply. We use that information to answer you and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list — there isn’t one.
The contact form also uses two anti-spam measures worth naming: a hidden field that real people never fill in, and a timestamp recording when the page loaded, so we can tell a human apart from a script submitting in 40 milliseconds. We also count submissions per IP address in memory to limit flooding. None of this is stored beyond that purpose.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read. It sets cookies and collects usage data including approximate location, device and browser information, and the pages you visit. It is aggregate: we use it to learn that a page is or isn’t useful, not to identify you.
Google is a separate data controller for what it collects. Their handling is governed by Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or any standard tracker blocker. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.
Affiliate links
This is the part most people actually want to know, so it is not buried.
When you click a product link, you pass through a redirect on this site (a /go/ URL) and land on Amazon with our Associates tag attached. That tag tells Amazon the visit came from us, which is how a commission is attributed.
Amazon then sets its own cookies and applies its own privacy policy, exactly as if you had gone there yourself. We do not receive your identity, your order details, or what you bought. We receive aggregate reporting on referred sales. Amazon’s practices are described in the Amazon Privacy Notice. Full detail on the commercial side is in our affiliate disclosure.
Product images
Product photographs are served from Amazon’s image CDN rather than copied onto our servers — which is both the licensing-compliant route and worth disclosing, because it means your browser makes a request to Amazon when a page with product images loads.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data. There is no data to sell.
- We do not have accounts, logins or profiles.
- We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
- We do not share contact-form messages with anyone.
- We do not use a captcha service, so no captcha vendor sees you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold. In practice we hold very little — essentially only contact-form emails you sent us. To ask what we have, or to have it deleted, email info@iceandcedar.com and we will action it.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
