Start with the electrical load, because it is the one thing you cannot change after the fact. An outdoor infrared cabin draws more than an indoor one of the same size — it is heating against the weather — so a 2-3kW draw is normal here rather than the 1.2-1.5kW of an indoor unit. The Albott is the only cabin that lets you plan properly: at 2850W / 240V it draws 11.9A, which the NEC’s 125% rule sizes to a 15A circuit. That is a fraction of what a 35A traditional barrel wants, but it is still a 240V run in most cases, so get the electrician’s quote before you choose the cabin. Where a listing hides the numbers, treat that as a cost you have not priced yet.
Then the footprint, because a patio is a hard constraint. A “four person” cabin is a real object that has to sit on a level pad with clearance around it, and only the LTCCDSS here publishes its exterior dimensions (73.09" x 48.66" x 83.5"). The rest make you ask the seller — which is worth doing before the crate arrives, not after. Two-person cabins like the OUTEXER and KUNSANA suit a small deck; the three- and four-person units need genuine yard.
Then the emitter type, which is a preference more than a verdict.Far infrared does the heavy lifting in every cabin. Full-spectrum units — the LTCCDSS and the SALUSHEAT — add near- and mid-infrared and usually a red-light wavelength; the KUNSANA uses ceramic emitters instead of carbon panels. All of these are legitimate hardware choices. None of them is a proven health upgrade, and the specific wavelength claims on the listings are the manufacturer’s, not ours.
Then the wood and the weatherproofing.Outdoor cabins live in the rain, so the roof and cladding matter in a way they do not indoors — the Albott publishes an asphalt-shingle roof, the LTCCDSS is Canadian hemlock, and the SALUSHEAT is a plainer “old fir.” Where a listing is silent on the roof or the wood grade, that silence is part of the picture. An outdoor sauna is only as good as its ability to shrug off weather for a decade.
