What separates them is the form factor, and everything that follows from it: space, portability, cost and how the session feels.
So this is not a contest to be a sauna. It is a choice between two convenient, plug-in ways to get radiant heat at home — and the right one depends almost entirely on how much room you have and what you want the session to be.

Which should you buy?
Buy a sauna blanket if space is tight, budget is the priority, or you want something that packs away and travels. It is the lowest-cost, lowest- footprint way to get radiant heat at home, as long as you are happy lying down for the session. If neither quite fits and you want something closer to real heat, a portable steam tent is a third packable option — though, as we explain there, the steam tents run humid but not truly hot. Whatever you choose, ignore the calorie-burn and detox claims on the listings; the evidence does not back them.
Who each one is really for
The blanket is for the space-constrained and the budget-conscious. If you live in a studio or a rental, move often, want something you can pack for a trip, or simply do not want to give a piece of furniture a permanent home, the blanket is the honest answer. It also suits people who like to lie down and switch off — a blanket session is passive by design. The trade you accept is that you are wrapped and lying flat, and that the seller will tell you very little about what you are buying.
The cabin is for people with a corner to spare who want the nicer session. Sitting up in a warmed enclosure, able to read or just breathe, is a more pleasant and more sauna-like experience than being zipped into a wrap, and the cabin at least publishes a current draw you can plan around. You pay more, and you give up the floor space for good. For a home where the sauna is going to be a regular fixture rather than an occasional novelty, that is usually money and space well spent.
Notice what is not on either list: anyone chasing the full traditional sauna experience. Neither of these delivers steam, stones or real hot-room heat. If that is what you are after, both of these are the wrong aisle, and a traditional sauna is what you actually want.

Do the health claims hold up for either one?
